Year 3

Nolan presents his research on microbial metabolites implicated in liver disease at the UW Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium. Excellent work this summer!

We are excited to host two undergraduate students in our lab this summer - Randon Serikawa (SCROCCS program) and Nolan Clayton (UW LSAMP program).

Summer 2024

Undergraduate students represent the Rajakovich Lab at the UW Undergraduate Research Symposium. So proud of your research progress!

The DOE Joint Genome Institute has awarded our functional genomics proposal to leverage the JGI’s microbial genomes and DNA synthesis capabilities for high-throughput protein characterization.

Spring 2024

Winter 2024

The group attends another fun Pacific Northwest Chemical Biology Volcano Conference at Pack Forest, WA.

Welcome to first-year graduate student Leah Zahn!

Congratulations to two undergraduate students in the group, Dylan Abramson and Lia Barrow, on being awarded competitive Mary Gates Research Scholarships!

Our proposal to develop high-throughput methods for protein characterization is funded by the University of Washington Royalty Research Fund.

Year 2

The Rajakovich Lab is NIH funded! We were awarded an R35 MIRA to investigate microbial metalloenzymes in microaerobic host environments. Thank you to the NIGMS for supporting our research for the next five years!

Congratulations to graduate student, Paige Gannon, on passing her General Exam and becoming the lab’s first Ph.D. candidate!!

Welcome to incoming first-year graduate student Pedro Vasquez for a summer rotation! Thank you to the Department of Chemistry for supporting Pedro with a Summer Research Acceleration Fellowship.

We are excited to have three new undergraduate student researchers join our group this summer - Dylan Abramson, Avery Martin, and Tanner Olson - welcome! Big thanks to the Department of Chemistry for supporting Dylan’s research this summer through a Chem Starter Undergraduate Research Scholarship.

Summer 2023

Congratulations to Hayden on graduating with his B.S. in Biochemistry from the UW this year! We are excited to see the great things you will accomplish in the UW Chemistry Ph.D. program!

Undergraduate student Hayden Henry present his research on the role of the human gut microbiota in neurotransmitter biosynthesis and depression at the UW Undergraduate Research Symposium. Well done!

Congratulations to undergraduate researcher Lia Barrow on receiving a Department of Chemistry Rising Star Undergraduate Research Scholarship to continue her work in our lab over the summer!

Spring 2023
